"do you manage to get mp4cam2avi working on HD1000 mp4 files? I tried and it doesn't work, playing the converted avi file will hang the computer. I now use VideoStudio 11, it can fully support AVCHD, and I just import the mp4 files directly to edit, very convenient - no need for any conversion."

mp4cam2avi works like a charm with files from both hd1000 and hd700
