Razer Scarab
$40.00
Released December, 2010
The Pros:Extremely accurate. Includes a carrying case - makes for easy transport when attending LAN parties. A major speed upgrade over lower-end cloth mousepads.
The Cons:Carrying case is somewhat overkill for the majority of consumers who will never use it - wasteful, adds to the price of the pad. The 'Fractal 2.0' surface has questionable benefits over traditional hard surface mousepads. Makes a scratchy noise when in use.
The Scarab is a hard-surface gaming mouse pad from gaming peripherals manufacturer Razer. It is part of their mid-range "Expert" line (in between "Essential" and "Elite").

A crystalline coating on the upper level of the rigid, uniformly grained surface enables faster, more accurate sensing, optimizing the performance of both optical and laser high-dpi mice, Razer claims. The rubber base is designed to promote stability and reduce the effects of bumps on the desk surface. A carrying case to protect the mat's surface is included. The higher-end Ironclad Elite option features a sandblasted surface for even greater tracking precision, as well as an aluminum unibody construction.

- Hard mouse mat
- Fractal 2.0 surface
- Crystalline coating for greater sensing speed/precision
