The Avital 4113 is a low-end to mid-range remote car starter system similar to the Avital 4103. The main difference between the 4113 and the 4103 is that the 4113's remotes feature an ultra-slim one-button design. Otherwise, the two remote car starter systems sport the same basic features, including: a Superhet (HX) receiver, Virtual Tach technology, keyless entry and upgrade outputs.

The 4113's two one-button remotes offer remote ignition and keyless vehicle entry from approximately 500ft while an additional unit offers an unlock while running option. Its Virtual Tach technology allows the 4113 to function without a tach wire as it is capable of independently monitoring voltage, ensuring an easier installation. Meanwhile, the 4113's upgrade outputs allow for Horn and Starter Kill/Anti-Grind relays for expanded functionality.

Features

Virtual Tach eliminates the need for a tach wire in most installations

D2D serial data port for Xpresskits

Bitwriter programmable for easy configuration

Superhet receiver (HX) for great range

Two remotes with dedicated AUX outputs

Lock, Unlock and Remote Start

Outputs for optional Horn and Starter Kill/Anti-Grind relays

The Viper 5101 is a keyless-entry, remote start system that allows a user to start their engine from a range of up to 2,000 ft. Featured are two 5-button SuperCode remotes that each host an easy-to-use priority user interface for convenient 2-car operation. Also included is an integrated status LED, a Valet Switch, an XpressPort dock for optional Xpresskit docking interface modules, and a bevy of advanced functions like timer start, smart start, and runtime reset. Most expert reviewers give the Viper 5101 two thumbs up, though many have complained about the price. Unless a user really needs a 2000-ft range, they’re likely better off pursuing a more inexpensive competitor.

Python 413

The Python 413 is an entry-level remote car starter system similar to the Python 1401. Being a lower-end product in comparison to the 1401, the 413 lacks a number of its features (Smart Start, Manual Transmission mode) while still providing similar functionality. The 413 comes with two four-button remotes and sports a Superhet (HX+) remote receiver. Additionally, the 413's Virtual Tach technology ensures easier installation.

The 413's four-button remotes allow users to start their vehicle remotely, as well as lock/unlock the vehicle, put the car into panic mode, open the trunk and activate rear window defogging. Its Superhet (HX+) remote receiver allows the 413 to perform these tasks from a fairly wide range (approximately 500ft). Meanwhile, the 413's Virtual Tach technology eliminates the need for a tach wire in most installations as it measures voltage intelligently for tach-less operation.

Features

Superhet (HX+) receiver for superior range

Virtual Tach eliminates the need for a tach wire in most installations

The Avital 5303 is a 2-way LCD remote start / security system engineered for a 1,500-ft range. It builds from the 5103 by replacing the second 1-way, 4-button remote with a special 2-way, 5-button remote that has a backlit LCD display. The remaining 4-button SuperCode remote handles all 1-way functions, while the 2-way unit provides command confirmations and event notifications via the display. This means users can check their vehicle temperature, check the clock time, be told when their engine has started, be told when the trunk has been popped, and more. All the 1-way functionalities present in its predecessor still remain, including a Zone-2 impact sensor that detects blows & impacts to the vehicle, a loud Revenger siren, and a D2D serial data port.

Featured are two ultra-small, 1-button, 2-way SuperCode remotes that can be used to unlock the vehicle, start the engine, turn on the defroster, and even operate the horn. There’s also a D2D port for an optional plug-in XpressKit vehicle interface. Overall users are very impressed with the systems simplicity combined with advanced functionality. They especially appreciate the 2-way function with confirmation, and also the ability to monitor car temperature and tell how much time is left on the remote start cycle.

Features

It builds from the basic 5101 by adding along advanced functions, such as the ability to check vehicle temperature using the hidden GhostLight LEDs on the remote, not to mention a longer 3 to 6 month battery life. Like its counterpart the system hosts two 5-button SuperCode remotes with an easy-to-use interface. Again expert reviewers note that the price is quite hefty. But some have also said that the remotes are too sensitive, as it’s common to accidentally start one’s vehicle with an inadvertent touch.

The Clifford 1.2 is a mid-range one-way remote car starter system with two included five-button remotes. It features an operation range of 2000 feet and an Integrated Status LED as well as functions such as keyless entry, Timer Start and Trunk Release. Additionally, the 1.2 sports Virtual Tach technology for a more simplified setup of the receiver unit.

The 1.2's five-button remotes allow users to control up to two vehicles from a range of 2000 feet, allowing for car starting (including a timed start option and a Smart Start option which automatically starts the car when the cabin temperature drops below a user-defined level), keyless entry and Trunk Release. Its Integrated Status LED flashes every time a command has been successfully completed by the 1.2, eliminating guesswork about whether or not you are within its operating range. Meanwhile, the 1.2's Virtual Tach technology eliminates the need for a tach wire as it intelligently monitors your car's voltage.

Some of the core features include a Zone-2 impact sensor that detects blows & impacts to the vehicle, and then responds either with a chirp or the full-blown Revenger siren; a dedicated A-to-D converter that samples the car’s voltage numerous times per second, thereby eliminating the need for a tachometer wire connection; and XCR onboard relays that can be custom programmed by a Bitwriter. In particular, the system comes with two 1-way, 4-button remotes. Unfortunately the system cannot provide a 2-way confirmation, though it makes up for that loss with a bevy of other functionalities like a D2D serial data port, neighborhood friendly anti-false alarm technology, and a built-in timer.

The Clifford 1.3X is a mid-range to high-end remote car starter system similar to the Clifford 1.2. The main improvements that the 1.3X boasts over the 1.2 are its OEM Security Interface and its confirmation beeps and ghostlights (the 1.2 only sports a single LED confirmation light). Otherwise, the two remote car starter systems sport the same basic features, including a 2000 ft. operating range and Virtual Tach technology.

The 1.3X's OEM Security Interface allows the main control unit to be synced with your vehicle's security system, allowing any security breach to transmit a warning signal to the two accompanying remote units. Its confirmation beeps and ghostlights eliminate any uncertainty as to whether the 1.3X has successfully completed an action. Additionally, the 1.3X's Virtual Tach technology makes installation easier as it makes a tach wire unnecessary by digitally monitoring your vehicle's voltage levels.

Features

The Clifford Responder one is a mid-range remote car starter system similar to the Clifford 1.2. The main difference between the two systems is that the Responder one sports one-button remotes (as opposed to the 1.2's five-button remotes). Otherwise, the Responder one lacks a number of the 1.2's features (trunk release, manual transmission mode) but still sports important core features such as Virtual Tach, a 2000 ft. operating range and Aux ports for expanding functionality.

The Responder one's two included one-button remotes offer basic and simple functionality which also makes them extremely compact for greater portability. Its Virtual Tach technology allows the Responder one to monitor your vehicle's voltage, making a physical tach wire unnecessary. Additionally, the Responder one's Aux ports allow users to add extra functionality (unlock while running, horn honk, defroster output) easily.

Features

Operation range of 2000 feet

Includes two one-way, one-button remotes

3 Auxiliary ports for adding additional units

Virtual Tach technology for easier installation

D2D Port for optional plug-in XPRESSKIT vehicle interface

LED command confirmation

Featured are two 5-button SuperCode remote controls with which users can arm/disarm their vehicle alarm, turn on or turn off the engine, pop open the trunk, and more. Since it’s a 1-way system, no confirmation is provided. Regardless, the system supports 2 separate cars and comes with a bevy of other advanced components/functionality, including inputs for door, hood, and trunk monitoring; a progressive door trigger; and support for warn-away, in which a brief and not too-loud verbal warning is issued to questionable threats. Expert reviewers praise the 2000’ range, but have complained about the remote start and alarm functionalities. Some say that after remotely starting their vehicle, they were unable to disable the alarm. Others disabled it, only to have the engine suddenly die.

This system is compatible with the SuperCode standard, allowing it to work with a wide variety of systems. Flashing LEDs indicate which commands were issued, enabling the user to be certain what is being done. In addition to lights, locks, engine start and security interface, the unit can start the defroster. An Anti-Grind system also ensures that the engines are started gracefully without damage to the vehicle.
