Set in the universe of Resident Evil, Umbrella Chronicles follows the heroes and heroines of Resident Evil 0, 1, and 3 as they battle the sinister creations of the Umbrella corporation. Played entirely in first person, Umbrella Chronicles is a shooter that is entirely on rails (think House of the Dead). Occasionaly you have the choice of veering off the beaten path, breaking down doors and finding alternate routes will ultimately be beneficial. Many of the objects in the game are breakable, concealing files, health, or ammunition. The files are the major draw of the game, giving fans of the series more back story and facts about their favorite games. All of the guns in the game are upgradable...for a cost. You must sacrifice a number of your stars (recieved after completing a mission) to upgrade the weapon. Some upgrades increase ammo capacity, while others increase damage, blast radius, or reload speed.
