If you ask most older architects to pick their favorite folding chair design, there?s a good chance they?ll refer you to the Rex Lounge Chair. Designed in 1952 by award-winning Slovenian designer Niko Kralj, the Rex appeals to the trained-and untrained-eye with its simple solid birch wood construction and fluid folding mechanism. Despite its storage capability, the design?s wide, comfortable seat and backrest, and sloping armrests invite frequent use in a lounge or office. When folded, the armchair measures less than six inches wide. Made in Russia.
