Roku Netflix Player

The Roku Netflix player is a streaming device that connects your TV directly to Netflix through an internet connection. You connect your Netflix account, and it allows you to stream movies on your queue. It can pause and rewind and allows you to rate movies directly from the box. Any movie you've placed in your Instant Queue is immediately available for watching. The Roku can be connected to an older TV or a newer HDTV through RCA, S-video, component video, or HDMI.

"Mediocre video quality" is relative. I use Netflix player under Windows Vista. On one title, "Rivers and Tides", the quality was excellent, vibrant colors and details. Another movie, "Sinbad in the Seven Seas" or something, it was unwatchable -- smeared and blurry.

The player scales your video quality based on network performance. But, it's tricky to say whether you should just try again later, or whether the original source video is too bad to be usable.

With the Windows Netflix player, I'd say the quality is variable but often quite good.
