"This www.productwiki.com site is great!. This is the first time Iever ever used it. The product filter/drill down is the best I have seen. I was able to find this laptop which I think maybe a little better. http://www.productwiki.com/acer-aspire-7738/ A little better overall. has only 3 GB ram but it is DDR3 and I can add more later more

"Yale, Thanks for taking the time to review the Asus K70IO laptop. I am trying to find a laptop for my 10yr old daughter. She loves to play Spore which is pretty demanding on video. I want to her to be able to watch movies on it and possibly hook it to flat screen via HDMI. more

Hey Russ,

I don't own the product, I just reviewed it based on its specifications. It looks like a pretty good deal, but I don't know about 'too good to be true'. I'll point out some faults to talk you down! The 5 hour battery claim is probably false - like almost all battery claims - the processor is only mediocre (T4200), and as you pointed out it uses older DDR2 memory. The build quality only looks acceptable, almost like the cheaper HP/Compaq/Toshibas ($400-700 range) you find at BestBuy - not on the same levels as the higher end Asus laptops or others from Lenovo/Apple etc... Again, I've never held it, so it might be better.

On the other hand it sounds like a great choice for your daughter. If weight isn't an issue it should play spore well, output HD video and the screen size and the fact that it is LED backlit is nice.
