I see the product was renamed from "Sad Steve" to "Sad Steve - MP3 Search Engine w. Downloads". Typically, we use the convention of using the succinct product/service description in the title and not include the category or a description of the product itself (ie. Apple iPod vs Apple iPod mp3 player).

I'd like to revert to "Sad Steve" or even "Sad Steve.com". Whaddayathink?

I agree with the revert. Let's see ifif BMC descides to defend his decision.

Hi, it's me, BMCCollege, the girl who submitted Sad Steve to product wiki.  Sorry about the mix-up on the title - I just wanted to make sure that people could find out what Sad Steve does since it's not that popular really.  (Unlike the iPod, which everyone knows is an mp3 player, not everyone knows that SS is a mp3 search engine).  Feel free to change it back - "Sad Steve.com" sounds good.

As an aside, what other features do you think would be good additions to the site?  I know you mentioned mp3 playlist capabilities, and that's something to think about.  What about news on good, new music?  Is that something you'd be interested in?

Thanks,

Lizzy

Hi Lizzy. Thanks for making the title change.

Are you affiliated with Sad Steve.com? And is there a "Steve"? It's a great site.

As for improvements to the site. It all centers around building custom playlists for me. I listen to Internet radio all day (RadioParadise.com), but when I want to listen to select tracks I (would) go to Seeqpod and build a playlist with their (crappy) flash interface. I like Sad Steve's clean html design WAY better, but the problem is when I click on a second or third track to play, it merely plays it at the same time instead of queuing it. My work around is to send the download link straight to winamp. However, I'd rather have the option of a built-in web player like seeqpod or hype machine so I can play using any computer including my Linux-based Asus EEE PC.

I agree with Erik - if you keep the download links and clean design, but add in a nice playlist maker, it'd be awesome! Perhaps the playlist manager could show up in the pop-up window you get when you hit play song. Also, if instead of using Quicktime or WMP to play the songs, you used something else that wasn't so god damn ugly it'd be nice, too. :) (Not a big deal).

Also if on the search screen it had a link to download the song as well as play the song, that'd be even better.

 Hey People!

Just wanted to make sure that all of you saw the brand new Sad Steve redesign.  The cutie who designed the site has done a nice job, I think.

There's also a new feature called the Percolator, which is like a showcase of the recently popular songs on the site.

What do you think?

Also, there is still no playlists feature.  The Founder told me that he doesn't want to implement a username/password system.  Is there any way that users can save their playlists for later listening without such a system?

Bye!,

College Cutie
