Samsung 6 Series (2009)

Also known as the 650 Series, the 6 Series line of televisions represents Samsung's second-highest-end LCD HDTVs, using regular CCFL backlighting as opposed to the newer LED technology employed in the 7 Series. This 2009 line continues the 6 Series brand introduced in 2008, and upgrades the sets to contain the top of the line features of 2009, which include a 1080p native resolution, deep Internet connectivity and expanded digital media format support. What remains consistent with the 2008 models, and is lacking compared to the higher end 2009 lines is the use of 120Hz motion compensation, as opposed to 240Hz. This feature set then makes the line comparable to Samsung's Luxia 7000 Series, with the only difference found with the different backlight technologies, which results in a different picture quality.

6 Series features

Auto Motion Plus 120Hz - Auto Motion Plus refers to Samsung's motion compensation technology that uses the faster 240Hz refresh rate to insert 3 artificial frames between the standard frames of the source video. Samsung claims this technology is well suited for fast moving video such as sports and action movies to reduce motion blur, and also helps with movies by reducing an effect called "judder". However, many people don't like this technology because it can make the video have what is called the "Soap Opera Effect".

650 and 750 Series Features

Internet@TV - expanding upon the 2008 InfoLink service Samsung's Internet@TV offers full Internet connectivity with richer Yahoo Internet widgets for sports, news and weather information, alongside Internet video streaming. The list of video streaming partners includes Amazon and YouTube and is expected to change/expand over time.

Digital Media Support - these TVs can stream digital media from the network, or from a USB device attached directly to the set. For 2008 all the TVs can handle audio, video and photos while last year video support was limited to only the flagship lines. Furthermore, the video format support is increased in 2009 to add popular formats such as MKV, and WMV9. This means that most video found on the Internet will work.

Models

The naming convention for the 2009 Samsung 6 Series: Samsung LNxxB650 where the "xx" is replaced by the television's size. The 2009 models can be distinguished from their 2008 counterparts by the letter that appears before the "750". 2008 is "A", while 2009 is "B".
