The Samsung BD-P3600 is a high-end Blu-ray Disc player announced at CES 2009. The BD-P3600 is reasonably similar to Fall 2008’s Samsung BD-P2550, featuring Profile 2.0/BD Live/Bonus View compatibility, Netflix movie and Pandora music internet streaming, plus 1GB of onboard memory, required for online features. The BD-P3600 differentiates itself from 2008’s model by including a USB 802.11n Wi-Fi dongle, which is intended to compliment the integrated Ethernet port. This Blu-ray Disc player supports the highest resolution audio formats out of the box, including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. For users with older AV receivers, this Samsung player can output analog 7.1 channel audio signals as well. Other notable features include improved disc loading times, a 1-second eject feature and touch sensitive controls on the unit itself. Samsung’s BD-P3600 is expected to be released sometime in the first half of 2009.

Pros
- USB, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, and Ethernet connectivity
- 7.1-channel analog outputs
- Profile 2.0
- upscales DVDs to 1080p
- Decodes Dolby TrueHD and dts HD MA
- Able to stream JPEG, MP3 & DivX from PC
- External USB WiFi dongle allows you to relocate the transceiver/antenna with a USB cable for better reception.
- supports Pandora and Netflix streaming
- Fastest startup and disk load times for a stand-alone BR player (April 2009)
- One Second Eject Feature (disk tray ejects almost instantly even when the player is powered down, no frustrating 20-90 sec wait for the tray to eject like many other BD players)
- Complete set of legacy DTS codecs, including DTS 96/24, ES, ES Matrix, and Neo:6
Cons
- Controls located on top of player. (can not stack anything on top of this player)
- DivX playback is limited to SD (480p)
- Will not playback AVCHD files from USB or Network share, only AVCHD files on properly BDMV mastered DVD or BluRay disks will playback on this machine. (why? the codec is there, it just won't let you!) :-(
- Implementation of PC Streaming crude. Uses file shares only, not a proper media server. Does not remember PC streaming configuration, user ID's or Passwords. (need to reconfigure every time!)
