The Samsung EcoGreen F4 is a 3.5” desktop hard disk drive designed for very low power consumption rates. As an upgrade from the already low-power-consuming F3EG, the EcoGreen F4(EG) requires 23% less power in standby mode.

In addition, the drive is supposedly the world’s highest-density, environmentally friendly drive, in that it hosts a total of three 667GB platters, each of which provide 6.3W power consumption during sequential reads/writes, 5.7W for random seeks, 5.1W when idle, and 1W in standby. That’s a total capacity of 2TB, which is enough to store 880 hours of DVD videos, or 500,000 songs in MP3 format.
