Samsung HMX-U20
$250.00
Released May, 2010
The Pros:Photo quality is excellent, comparable to higher quality 10 MP digital cameras. The Smart Auto feature actually does a good job of picking the best settings for each situation. Included video/picture editing software allows for simple editing while on the go.
The Cons:Recorded audio is accompanied by a constant clicking noise. Video quality seems a little lacking on the 1080p setting. The smaller size makes it harder to keep steady while recording video.
The Samsung HMX-U20 is one of two 1080p HD pocket camcorders release in Spring 2010. The U20 builds from the U15 by incorporating an improved 3x optical zoom, as well as a more compact and portable design.

However, the HMX-U20 is restricted to 10MP still shots (versus 14MP). Like its predecessor, the Samsung HMX-U20 supports H.264 video formats at 30fps, Hyper Digital Image Stabilization, and one-touch uploads to YouTube. Include also is an HDMI out for transmitting to a compatible HDTV set; a high-performing 1/2.3” CMOS sensor; and a swing-out USB connection that can also recharge the camcorder’s battery. It too features Samsung’s play-edit-sharing program (Intelli-Studio) for playing their videos on any computer.
