Samsung HT-C550
$499.00
Released April, 2010
The Pros:Loud playback capacity. Price is pretty low for a full 5.1 w/ receiver. Nice looking aesthetic.
The Cons:Setup can be frustrating, requires tweaking. Instructions are not particularly clear, some features are difficult to access. Prone to some physical problems (occasional playback errors, HDMI output problems).
The Samsung HT-C550 is a low-end home theater system. It shares certain features with another home theater system from Samsung, the HT-C9950W, such as Blu-Ray compatibility, and Crystal Amp Pro technology (which increases the clarity of sound).

The HT-C550 falls short compared to the HT-C9950W, as it lacks things such as 3D Blu-Ray support, and only has 5.1 channel audio compared to the HT-C9950W's 7.1. The HT-C550 features wireless speakers, which eliminate the clutter of wires. The speakers also operate at a 5.8GHz wireless transmission, which ensures that the user gets high quality audio without any interference. The HT-C550 also features an iPod/iPhone docking cradle, which lets the user play audio and video from their iPod or iPhone through the home theater system. This also lets the user control the iPod/iPhone with the home theater remote, and charge their device of choice through the cradle.
