Part of a wave of new cameras introduced by Samsung in the late summer of 2008, the Samsung SL310W offers a high-resolution 13.6 megapixel sensor combined with the wide-angle capabilities of a 28mm maximum width 3.6x optical zoom lens. Eleven scene modes help users select the most appropriate settings for any given situation, and face detection that can recognize when subjects are smiling or blinking help trigger the shutter at the right moment. Red-eye reduction can be triggered to auto-correct detected cases of red-eye, or manually applied to a shot after it is taken.
