The L83T is a mid-level compact digital camera from Samsung. The L83T features an 8.2 megapixel CCD image sensor, a 3x optical zoom lens, a 2.5” LCD screen and includes a rechargeable battery. Samsung has implemented 14 preset scenes and automatic modes, which allow the average user to optimize their photos without having to manually adjust the camera’s settings. Other features include ISO 1600 sensitivity, face recognition and advanced shake reduction. The face recognition system will automatically keep the subject’s face in focus, regardless of the scene’s composition. The shake reduction feature is especially useful for use with the camera’s close-up macro mode that works up to 1cm. The general consensus among camera experts suggests the L83T’s photos are slightly above average, easily suitable for emailing, web sites and basic 8” x 10” or 4” x 6” printing. However, larger prints at higher ISO settings are likely to be less than adequate with this camera. The Samsung L83T is available in silver and red.
