Samsung NX5

$855.00 Released July, 2010

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Replaces the AMOLED display of the NX10 with an LCD to reduce cost - retains all other important features. Image quality of larger full dSLR camera in a compact mirror-less body. Price start at or quickly fall below $600 - affordable for such a beautiful camera.

The Cons:Launch price point is higher than what the NX10 currently goes for. Larger than its direct competitors. Uses a new lens mount (NX mount).

The Samsung NX5 is a budget-friendly and compact Micro Four Thirds DSLR released in June 2010 as an affordable counterpart to the Samsung NX10 (April 2010). It replaces its sibling’s AMOLED display with a 3” LCD display, while maintaining its 14.6MP APS-C format CMOS sensor, electronic viewfinder and NX interchangeable lens system.

Also inherited is an integrated pop-up style flash, SD/SDHC memory card slots and HDMIU connectivity. What critics especially find appealing is the NX5’s form factor, which is in fact only slightly larger than that a conventional, mass-market digital camera. Plus despite its size, it’s still ferocious in that it supports high-definition video/still capture, an advanced AF function for capture rapid movement without blurs, and a bevy of in-depth manual controls.
