Samsung Transform (SPH-M920)

$250.00 Released October, 2010

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Runs a recent version of the powerful, open source Android operating system (2.1). Will be upgraded to Android 2.2.

The Cons:Decidedly mid-range specifications - not worth saving $50 over better phones while paying the same high prices for being on a data plan. Poor battery life. Buggy software.

The Samsung Transform is a mid-range Android 2.1 smartphone available exclusively from Sprint at the time of its release. It features an 800MHz processor, 256MB of RAM (512MB ROM), a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 3.5" capacitive touchscreen and two cameras--one front- and one rear-facing--for video chat.

Additionally, the Transform sports Bluetooth 3.0 and 802.11b/g WiFi.

The Transform's slide-out QWERTY keyboard provides it with an alternate method of inputting text and navigating certain elements of the OS for those who prefer physical buttons over virtual ones. Its 800MHz processor and 256MB of RAM ensure that the Transform provides a mostly smooth experience with some mild slowdown during heavier multitasking. Meanwhile, the Transform's two cameras offer the ability to capture quick on-the-go still images as well as video chat.
