Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB
Introduced earlier this year into Seagate's external hard disk know as the Free Agent Desk, the 7200.11 1.5TB is the largest capacity boost to computer hard disks since January 2007 when Hitachi hit the 1TB mark. Finally available to buy on its own, the 7200.11 1.5TB drive contains 4 375GB platters spinning at 7200RPM, and can supposedly reach speeds of up to 120MB/s - an impressive feat generally reserved for niche drives such as the Western Digital Velociraptor which spins at 10,000RPM and only holds 300GB of data. Also impressive is its price, with an estimated MSRP of 184.99 the 7200.11 1.5TB remains well within spitting range of performance 7200PRM terabyte drives from competitors Western Digital and Samsung.
MSRP $184.99

Pros
- world's best 5-year manufacturer warranty
(requires you to buy the drive through an authorized reseller however)
- great for storage (huge capacity, fairly low noise levels and power consumption)
- inexpensive considering it is the only 1.5TB drive on the market at the moment
- new record for capacity, beats earlier maximum capacity by a whopping 50%
- available immediately from a large variety of retailers
Cons
- aging 7200.11 core technology is inferior and actually quite poor compared to competition in some instances (superior in others)
- marketing claims do not live up to real world tests
