Seagate Barracuda 7200.12
Announced in January 2009, the 7200.12 is the 12th iteration of the standard Barracuda desktop HDD line by Seagate. The biggest improvement over 7200.11 is the massive platter density upgrade - allowing more capacity in fewer platters, faster reads/writes, less power usage and less heat production. Up to an unbelievable 329GB per square inch, Seagate can now store 500GB on a single platter - compared to Western Digital's 320GB. Currently available from online retailers in 500GB, 750GB and 1TB capacities, one should expect 1.5TB and beyond in the near future.
