The Sega Genesis (Japanese title: Sega Mega Drive) was a 16-bit 'fourth-generation' video game console released in 1989 in North America. It's main competitor was the Super Nintendo Enterianment System. With a lifespan of fourteen years and 29 million units sold, it is Sega's most successful console to date.

- Large selection of games
- Games are simple, but offer a rich gaming experience
- Sega channel was innovative, but may have been ahead of its time
- Sega CD and Sega 32X offered hardware upgrades for the stock console
