Sennheiser HD 202

The Sennheiser HD 202 are closed, dynamic hi-fi stereo headphones. These lightweight headphones have a secure fit and can be used for both mobile sources and home (mini) hi-fi systems. There fit is somewhat between a supra-aural and circum-aural design; there isn't as much clearance around the ear as with a more typical circum-aural headphone, but they do not sit directly on the ear. It features a long 3 meter cord length and replaceable leatherette ear pads.

I've been using a pair of HD 202 for around 2 years in the environment of mixing live music from front of house. For this purpose I can't really recommend them. There is not enough isolation to hear clearly over the sound coming from the PA system. Turning the volume up only causes them to distort.
On the positive side, they are still in one piece! The over long cable has been tripped over at least 100 times and shows no sign of damage. They are light, comfortable and the pads show no sign of wear.
They are due to be replaced by some Beyerdynamic DT100s, which (although an aging design and not the most "hi-fi" of heaphones) were actually designed for the job that I do. The HD 202s will then be used as domestic headphones being driven by various electonic objects, including a laptop, a personal CD player and My trusty NAD reciever that I've had for 10 years. I will be able to give an objective account of the HD 202 headphones once I can actually hear them!
