The Sennheiser HD 25-SP II are a set of closed-back dynamic headphones designed for professional sound monitoring in outdoor environments, studios, and sound testing labs. This is a lower-cost alternative to the HD-25 II, with a simpler headband and marginally different capsule design. These headphones rest on top of the ear without surrounding them due to the supra-aural design, and they are closed which means no sound can escape or enter. This is arguably not as good as an 'open' design sonically but for noisy environments like clubs and studios it is a must. The cable is detachable from the headphones and the soft headband and earpads make for prolonged periods of wear.

Pros
- slightly darker than lower grado headphone models, easier to listen to
- the most high end Grado that maintains the light plastic shell
- one of the best from a price:performance ratio - SR325 is $100 (50%) more, SR125 is not well regarded
Cons
- some believe a lesser Grado can be transformed to approach the refined sound of the 225 by implementing modifications (replacing grill, adding dampening to the back of the driver etc...)
- open design and thick cable are only good for quiet at home listening - cannot be easily thrown in a bag
- potential comfort issues - takes a while to get used to
