Senz Umbrella

The original umbrella was invented over 1,700 years ago, and hasn't changed much since, save some mechanical opening and closing advancements. But the canopy itself has stayed pretty much the same. This is why Senz, with their new aerodynamic design, has become a favorite and winner of the Red Dot design award for 2007. The Senz uses simple geometry to cut the wind, therefore never allowing your umbrella to turn inside out.

Details

The canopy itself is asymmetrical, with the claim that it will never turn inside out. Also by using the ribs in the frame to help absorb the wind and forces on the umbrella, this makes it one of the only waterproof and windproof umbrellas. The Senz team has put a lot of thought into the design of this umbrella including 'eye savers' which reinforce the points between the canopy and the frame so the steel rods aren't exposed. Handle is made from ABS plastic with EVA foam for no-slip grip.

Do the same rules of umbrella-bad-luck apply to this new design? I mean, how far do they have to deviate from the original design before it no longer is considered bad luck to open it indoors? I think its more of a bad idea, than bad luck to be opening umbrellas inside. Knocking things over. Poking people's eyes out. That sorta thing.

It says the cutaway front aids visibility, but it is only at the "front" if you are walking into the wind. If the wind is behind you, you have the long bit hanging in front of you.

smartco, that is not correct. There are plenty of places to see it in action, the back lifts:
