According to a friend who went to MIT, there's a longstanding myth that Boston's downtown streets were originally cow paths which lead to the Boston Common - once the town's cow pasture for many years. The story served to explain why the streets were so dysfunctional, but in actuality the early settlers were just poor city planners who wanted to be close to the water. the myth buster

"Awesome! This is the same principle as the siphon method that most Japanese coffee is brewed. It's such a common practice there that at the recent World Barista Championships held in Tokyo, there was a siphon only competition! What is tricky about the vac pot method is that there are more variables to consider when brewing the coffee - temperature, brew time, dosage and grind quality. Instead of just dumping in hot water like the French press, the maker has to figure out their parameters, so it's harder to control a good brew. The cool thing about this is that there's no need for a halogen burner base and it also makes more than two cup so you can entertain the masses, unlike other dainty Japanese models. I'm a bit of a coffee lover and when I tried siphon coffee in Taiwan I found it to be clean, complex, extremely aromatic and tasted incredible, so I'd definitely want to try the Bodum equivalent out!"

"I've tried this before and found that even though the Aeropress makes a really clean cup of coffee, it's still inferior to the French press. The reason being is that the grinds and water mix only for a short period of time and through extraction the filter absorbs too much of the oil and aroma. The coffee will taste as good as Starbucks because ... well Starbucks brewed kind of does the same thing!"

"i can see how the unique registration number creates a type of singledom unity (and not to get into the "one ring to bind them all" rhetoric), but what happens when you're not single anymore? should you give it back and revoke your registration? wouldn't it be great if the rings were recycled so singles know that one day they too have a chance to return it?"

"Wow. Isn't it annoying when you come up with cool product ideas, only to find out that they've already been done? I was dreaming up a snug rock climbing shoe that covered each individual shoe...and now - this perfect item. This will likely revolutionize shoe design for outdoor sports and I can also see it exploding in the same fashion as Crocs. Just did some research online and this pertains to only Canadians - MEC carries only the Sprint version which is a it more expensive. I'm definitely going to look out for these the next time I go!"
