The Sharp LC-52D92U comes at the top of the line of Sharp's 2007 LCD televisions. Manufactured out of their 8th generation panel facility, the D92U series of sets features the latest technology including 1080p native resolution and a 4ms refresh rate for 120Hz support. One of the standout features of the set is the very high rating of 15000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Black levels are reported to be best in class for LCDs and compete with other technologies such as Plasma and CRT.

The difference between dynamic and static contrast ratio is a result of the way they're measured. Dynamic ratios involve the difference between the darkest black and whitest white on different frames, where static is on the same frame. Sharp produces a higher dynamic ratio through the use of a backlight that changes depending on the overall brightness of the picture.

Speakers are located inside the thin speaker strip on the bottom of the set. For most people which have a television of this caliber and use a separate speaker system, the speaker strip is detachable leaving only the display part of the television.
