The Yamaha MCR-040 is a high end shelf radio. It is similar to the MCR-140, but the iPod connects in this case using a dock rather than wirelessly. Full iPod control is available through the front panel or through the included remote control. Advanced YST coordinates the speaker and amp to create a perfectly linear motion, which translates into 4 inch 15 watt speakers that have a much more powerful sound than normal. A USB port and mini jack are available for external media playback, and there is also a CD player and FM tuner. A clock timer with sleep function is integrated.

The Sony MHC-EC909iP is a mini Hi-Fi shelf system designed to output high-quality audio, while taking up a minimal amount of space. The Sharp CD-DH950P is a mini component system with an iPod dock, CD changer and cassette player. This is similar to the Sharp CD-DHS1050P, but doesn't use the extra subwoofer. Two speakers are used instead, each using a 2-way system for better precision and added bass response. The system sends 120 watts to each speaker for a total of 240 watts of output. This allows an iPod to not only to make use of the 3-way speakers and separate subwoofer, but also allows it to be protected by the base structure of the system as opposed to having the iPod sit separately and exposed with a cord connection. Panasonic SC-HC55

The Panasonic SC-HC55 is a slim and flat shelf system with an integrated CD player and iPod dock. This is very similar to the Panasonic SC-HC05, but has the CD player and uses a different overall design. It follows the two previous models, the Panasonic SC-HC25 and Panasonic SC-HC35, which didn't include Bluetooth audio streaming or Internet Radio controls. The Panasonic SC-HC25 is a CD shelf system and iPod dock. The design follows the slim, flat shape found in all units in the series. This is similar to the Panasonic SC-HC35, but isn't wall mountable and includes an Aero Stream Port. Larger models in the series include the Panasonic SC-HC05 and Panasonic SC-HC55, which add Bluetooth and Internet Radio streaming capabilities. The Sony RDH-GTK1i is a mini shelf system capable of playing CDs and mp3s from an iPod or other systems via a USB port. Bose Acoustic Wave Music System II

The Bose Acoustic Wave Music System II is no longer in production but there are models still available on the market. The sound quality of the system works well to fill small rooms, and can service some medium sized rooms as well if the speakers are positioned for the best sound. The Bose Acoustic Wave Music System II does not come with basic bass and treble controls so it doesn't offer the flexibility or control that other systems have. The lack of features - no alarm or clock, no XM support, no HD radio support, and minimal presets - do not make the product appealing in the face of its high price and limited sound power.

The Tivoli Audio Music System is a high-end tabletop radio and CD player that puts aesthetics at the top of its priority list. Coming in at $600 - $700, this radio is marketed towards those putting at least as much importance on the way their stereo looks as it sounds. It comes in a beautiful hand-lacquered finish in your choice of piano black /w silver, piano white /w silver, or walnut /w beige.

The Tivoli Audio Music System takes a minimalist approach; it comes included with a slot-loading CD player, AM/FM radio, alarm clock /w dual alarms, and an auxiliary line-in for connecting other inputs sources like your iPod. At its price-point, many expected features were left out; there is no HD radio, satellite radio, iPod dock, network streaming, or DVD playback.

It's sound quality is good, but far from being up-to-snuff for hardcore audiophiles. With all of it's downfalls, it may seem unlikely to find a place in the market, but on occasion it has been very well received. It competes with the popular Bose tabletop radios.

The Philips MCD900 is one of two hi-fi micro SoundSphere systems (MCD900, MCi900) announced by Philips Spanish division in early 2010. Both systems feature a central receiver with a CD/DVD player and USB connection, and two SoundSphere speakers both made out of a single piece of aluminum. What’s unusual about the MCD900 and its peer is that each speaker hosts a tweeter that floats on top of it—unlike most models, where the tweeter is embedded within. The JVC UX-GN6 is a micro audio system that uses revolutionary technology to make user interaction with the product unique. The user is able to wake the system out of standby mode just by waving their hand infront of the machine, resulting in the system illuminating all of the controls and the LED display - a neat trick to show off to friends. It also has two laser touch control panels which are touch-sensitive. The user can run their finger up and down over the strips to operate the control. The RD-EZ11 is a low-end boom box from JVC. It is a portable system with very basic functionality, combining a CD player and AM/FM tuner. It also features an audio input that can be used to play music stored on an iPod or other portable media device. It can output a total of 3 W, and is battery-operable. It is appropriately portable for a boom box, weighing under 4 lbs. JVC's lineup lacks a mid-range boom box option, as the next model up from the RD-EZ11 is a 40W, $300 system.

The JVC MX-KC50 is a 3-CD compact system designed to look expensive but come at a reasonable cost. It has a power output of 400W total and 200W per channel, along with 3-way bass-reflex speakers, and a sound turbo option. For those consumers who might have a collection of cassettes lying around, the JVC MX-KC50 can play them as well as offering a front AUX input for more modern devices. The asthetics of the box involve a standard black color, with speakers that have an artsy design - looking almost like little snowmen with three stacked circles.
