Originally planned for release in October 2008, the Sherwood BDP-5003 is a more consumer friendly Blu-Ray player that finally made its appearance in late November. It is a more slimmed down version of the Sherwood BDP-6003. Sherwood claims the BDP-5003 will offer optimum performance to those looking for a more affordable player. The BDP-5003 features full 1080p/24p output with support for Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD MA output via HDMI. It also offers Bonusview (Profile 1.1) support and upscales standard DVDs to the supported high-definition formats. The release date was originally set for October, 2008 but has been pushed back until November.
