Sigg Reusable Water Bottle

Sigg water bottles are reusable water (or drink) bottles made from a single piece of aluminum with an innovative interior lining. The bottles are non-toxic and resistant to leaching, so you don't have to worry about a metallic or plastic taste in your drink. The interior lining is water-based and not made from plastic but rather a baked in epoxy that has exceeded FDA requirements for leaching. Sigg water bottles have won numerous accolades, especially concerning their rugged design - Backpacker Magazine's dubbed them the world's toughest water bottle in 2006.

Details

The Sigg has been a favorite among fashionistas and sports enthusiasts alike for their large array of styles and bottle types. Siggs come in over 100 exterior designs and range in size from 0.6L to 1.5L (a children's size is also available at 0.3L and 0.4L). They also have customizable tops including a standard screw top, sports top and round top.

For cleaning, Sigg recommends you use their tablets and cleaning brush (which cost extra). Although the bottles are dishwasher safe, it's not recommended since this may dull the outer finish.

Important notes

  • Sigg bottles can not be frozen (they may crack)
  • Sigg bottles should not be used for boiling
  • Tested with 0% leaching
  • Top is made from FDA-approved polypropylene plastic

Love my Sigg bottle! I bought it in the Spring 2006 before I did a half marathon in Victoria, Canada when I saw an ad for it in a newspaper. I carry it with me daily. Some people mistake it for a whiskey flask, but hey what the heck? (hic). Since then, it has been dented but the interior is unblemished. The baked enamel interior blocks the aluminum so, in essence, you are not being exposed to drinking anything in aluminum.

SIGG has come clean on their liner non-issue. Their new liner is BPA free. Their old liner was thoroughly tested and never leached anything bad. See an overview of SIGG bottles.
