April 1, 2009 at 4:57 pm

"dudegalea, your photos are awesome. How'd you do the reverse-LCD trick?

Royalton, there is no difference in features or functionality between models in the PAW1300 series. Same internal module. Only the bands and case materials change with model.

I'm enjoying my PAW1300T-7V, the titanium model. Very nice watch, suitable for outdoor fun and button-down business, lots of functionality, good quality and impressive looks without being ostentatious. Has a feel to it that suggests it'll last pretty much forever."

April 1, 2009 at 4:51 pm

new pro/con: Very attractive styling without the cartoonish clunkiness of other triple-sensor watches. Much thinner than typical-- slips under a shirt sleeve.

new pro/con: Alarm sound is a bit puny.

new pro/con: World time feature is wonderful. Scroll through the time zones, and both your "home" time and the time in that zone will be displayed simultaneously. Great for international travel and business.

tapped as "have it"

tapped as "love it"

new pro/con: Removing band links requires knowledge due to unusual pin-and-sleeve design (also used by Seiko on some watches). Band setup by an inept technician can result in separation.

new pro/con: Not a diving watch. (This really isn't a con, but some people gripe about certain Pathfinders not being diving watches).

new pro/con: Case design is tough, and the hardened glass crystal is recessed scratch-resistant.

new pro/con: Solar charging means regular battery replacements are not needed. In other watches, the same internal rechargeable battery has been good for 8-10 years of service, and it is replaceable.

new pro/con: The compass is reasonably accurate.

new pro/con: The barometric pressure graph is wonderful-- like having a weather station on your wrist!

new pro/con: Illumination is brief at ~1second, and is fixed.

new pro/con: The thermometer is mainly intended to compensate the silicon barometric pressure sensor, so it shows wrist temperature unless you leave the watch off for 20 minutes or so.

new pro/con: Like all barometric pressure-based altimeters, Casio's altitude readings can change based on weather, etc. Per the manual, calibrate to a known waypoint if you want accuracy (it's quick).

new pro/con: Nightly atomic time sync plus native quartz accuracy makes for dependability and convenience (Daylight Savings Time is handled automatically)
