Panasonic VDR-D50

The Panasonic VDR-D50 is a DVD Camcorder with 42x Optical Zoom, Advanced Optical Image Stabilization, Color Viewfinder, One-Touch Navigation and Built-In SD Card Slot, Records to 8cm DVD and SD Card. It retails for $330 and was released in 2008. The Canon DC310 comes similar to this one in terms of features and price range (it retails for $360). This camcorder has a very poor still image quality (.3 MB) which is a value that 10 year old cameras had. Its optical zoom at x42 is pretty impressive, but nothing special considering the price range. However, ordinary users have been raving about this product on forums online.

Panasonic PV-GS90

The Panasonic PV-GS90 is a miniDV camcorder with 42x Optical Zoom, Advanced Optical Image Stabilizer,Built-In LED Light and One-Touch Navigation, Records to MiniDV Tape. This piece is relatively inexpensive compared to its counterparts from other brands in the market. Its 42x zoom is somewhat more powerful than similarly priced camcorders. It supports manual focus, which is a more advanced feature. It also weighs just about 13.8 ounces. The most similar camcorder to it is the Canon ZR950, which retails at the same price. A big difference between the two is that the Canon camcorder supports still image recording at 1.07MB, this one, disappointingly, doesn't. But overall critics assert that it is good value for money.
