Details

The SMART Board is designed to be used in an office or school setting to improve your presentation, meeting, lecture, or lesson; you can access all of your standard applications, but the real power of this technology is with the included software. Some of the software and features included with the SMART Board:

  • intuitive interface - including simplified toolbars, quick tool access, tab views, page sorter, and more
  • object control - allows you to create, move, flip, and lock digital objects that are placed on top of your workspace. All elements on your workspace can become objects
  • text/drawing - the software recognizes handwriting and converts it into text with formatting options, and the ability to use mathematical and scientific notation
  • sharing - your workspace can be exported, saved, and distributed in many formats so you can access your work later

The 600 series of interactive whiteboards is available in several models of varying size, with the 600i series including a projector that mounts on top of the SMART Board. Rounding out the series are the following models:

My mom (a principal), recently bought two of these to be used in grade 8 classes. The kids have been really excited to use the SMART Board. Anything that helps, and excites, kids about learning is good in my books. I just wish this technology existed when I was in school.

My mom (a teacher) uses these. She says that they are better than they sound and can be hard to hook up if you do not have a permenant setup. Also, writing on it can be awkward as it is never exactly configured even, when you do do it, so the writing is not where you want it on the screen if you do it virtual.

They're starting to creep into the corporate world. While corporate buyers are excited about the product but when it gets down to purchasing it is the first thing to be cut. If Smart Tech wants to break into the corporate world they're going to have to make it more affordable and discountable or it's never going to happen.

Actually Smart boards are very useful for teaching and studying in schools. Presentations will be more lively and professional with support from document cameras, projectors and smart boards. We need all for successful education.
