How much technology can you pack into a watch-sized container? SMS Technology has taken a stab at that question with the SMS M500. Quad-band GSM cell phone, Bluetooth connectivity, mp3/AACS music playback, mp4 playback, and other regular features of a modern cell phone such as applications and games. Transferring data to and from the phone is accomplished by connecting the phone with its USB2.0 interface port.

With a 1.5 inch screen, classifying this as a watch is somewhat difficult, it's more akin to a PDA or cell phone with two bands attached. The screen is required to be somewhat large however since that is the main interface mechanism for accessing all of the phone's features. Since adding a keyboard or more buttons is not possible with such a small device, SMS Technology has given the phone a touch screen with an ultra mini stylus for user input.

Working with GSM850/900/1800/1900 frequencies, and passing certifications globally, the watch-phone should work properly around the world. The 400mAh battery provides for 80 hours of standby time and 200 minutes of talk time, though these rates will be further reduced when using high power functions such as Bluetooth transfers.
