It builds from the Mint line by incorporating more comfort-related components, including an articulating cuff to create fluid forward motion and maximize heel hold; a heat-moldable Flex 2 liner with a Plush Cush that holds tightly onto the calf; and a Rad Pad that keeps the laces from digging in. Reviewers give much more credit to the Sapphire than they did its predecessor. Though it takes awhile to break in, it’s regarded as ultra comfortable and worth every penny. There are some though who claim the Sapphire is a bit stiff and narrow.
