I've never been this hyped for a World Cup before, or any kind of sporting event for that matter.  I think my excitement was very well placed as demonstrated in the fantastic opening match between Germany and Costa Rica.

I'm hoping that we see some great underdog stories come about, with my preference on the African teams outperforming expectations, Tunisia in particular.

My overall favourite has to go to France though, as it houses both of my favourite players Zidane and Henry.

That last Germany goal was sick. Seriously, how sweet would that be to score?

The first and fourth goals by Germany were absolutely sick. What have they done with the ball? In general, I feel soccer has the best highlights. I could watch soccer highlights all day over and over.

Looks like Ecuador has a great shot of making out round robin play.

Man, the England/Paraguay game was BORING. England gets 3 points on an own-goal. Whoop-dee-doo!

Looking forward to Sweden/Trinidad...

I have to say that I really dislike the Argentinian style of play.  When they work together to move the ball up the field, they have really great skills and excellent passing and ball movement.  However, they're also really really cheap.  I understand that these kind of tactics are part of the game, and necessary to win, but as an observer it makes for a frustrating and boring game to watch.  Things like wasting time, taking dives, etc.  The one thing that really pissed me off is when they made a substitution in the middle of injury time, and spent a minute changing the players.  It was ridiculous.

Give me a game like Germany over Costa Rica.  I'm not even saying they have to be high scoring games, it was more that both sides never rested, never gave up, and always played beautifully and honourably until the end.
