The Sony BDP-S470 is one of 3D-ready Blu-ray disc players (S470, S570) released in February 2010 as direct competitors to Panasonic’s 3D lineup. The actual 3D support was later provided by a free firmware update during the summer of 2010.

It supports BDs, DVDs, CDs, and SA-CDs; and it provides DVD upscaling to 1080p via Precision Cinema HD Upscaling. Included also is an Ethernet interface, optional WiFi via a USB wireless LAN adapter, and photo/music/video playback via USB and DLNA. Once connected to the Internet, the player’s Bravia Internet Video can be utilized for access YouTube, Netflix, Slacker, and more—not to mention BD-Live content as well. Additional features include Dolby TrueHD / dts-HD Master Audio decoding and the ability to turn your iPhone or iPod Touch into a remote control by downloading a free application.
