The Sony BRAVIA KDL-55EX500 is one of five CCFL backlit LCD HDTVs announced in 2010 as part of the KDL-EX500 Series. Although priced the same as KDL-EX600 models, the KDL-55EX500 and its peers differ in that they utilize Motionflow 120Hz Technology, allowing for smoother transitions and onscreen movement.

#sony_bravia_kdl_55ex500 You can easily turn off both the startup sound, and the Motionflow in the settings menu, so I wouldn't say they are valid cons.
The bezel is bigger than the new sleek TVs, however this picture quality is pretty good especially if you use the calibrated settings you can find on the net.
I have this TV and I haven't been disappointed yet, in spite of friends and family getting new models.
