The V-series is Sony's entry-level 1080p LCD television for 2008 and replace the V2500 series of 2007. These sets don't feature some of the more advanced display capabilities of their more expensive bretheren, but retain the biggest selling point in televisions today: 1080p native resolution. 120Hz, and 24p cinema modes are left to the higher end W-series and Z-series. Beyond these display features the V4100s share much in common with the rest of the 1080p Bravia line including 60p/24p support, Bravia sync over HDMI, USB port for accessing digital content, and the Digital Media Extender port for marketed future-proof add-ons.

Z-Series, W-Series, and V-Series features

60p and 24p support - these sets can accept Blu-Ray content that is delivered at 24 frames per second with a progressive picture. They also accept a progressive signal that is delivered at 60 frames per second, this is most common in video games. Both the HDMI and Component video inputs can handle these signals.

Bravia Sync - control the other components in your home theater system, such as your A/V receiver and DVD player, directly from the TV. The other components must be Bravia sync compatible.

USB port - view pictures and audio stored on a USB mass storage device.

Difference between V-Series and XBR6 Series

The XBR6 series is the higher end model and features a 10-bit panel, instead of 8-bit, and also uses the Bravia Engine 2, instead of the older Bravia Engine 1. Both of these differences should result in a cleaner more vibrant picture.

Features found on all 2008 Sony LCD TVs

Digital Media Extender - this is a proprietary port that acts as a central gateway for future add-ons to be installe to expand the functionality of the TV. The first add-on available is the Bravia Internet Link module that lets you view video content from the Internet. Sony claims future add-ons will be available with more features.
