Sony CMT-LX20i

The Sony CMT-LX20i is a micro shelf system with a shallow, tall design that fits well in tight spaces. The first of four Sony i shelf systems, the CMT-LX20i is described as Sony’s “first iPod-specific stereo” due to its inventory of iPod features including charge, play, and control functions. In addition, the CMT-LX20i sports a single-disc CD player with CD-R/RW and MP3 playback, an audio-in port for MP3 players and PCs, an AM/FM tuner with 30 station presets, and an LCD display that shows the ID3 tags of the current song playing. The CMT-LX20i also boasts an integrated iPod dock, a remote control, and a clock with sleep/timer/alarm functions. The Sony CMT-LX20i retails for $99.99 and comes with a 90 day limited warranty.

It might be obvious just by looking at the product picture, but is this puppy compatible with the iPhone 3G?

It should be. The iPhone 3G came out July 11, 2008 and this was released in March 2009, so I think it should be able to.

I had been waiting for this to come to my area for a while, and it was worth the wait. I have my stereo in the game room hooked up to Yamaha Studio Monitors, and in my living room and office at work I have Klipsch speakers. If you are looking for that type of sound this system is not for you. On the other hand, if you are looking for something to put the iPod on while you go to sleep at night this is just right!

There is only 10W/channel so it is not super great at very low or very high volume levels, but placed across a 16x28 bedroom this provides a nice clear sound at a medium soft volume level.

Sony could improve this system by allowing for better speaker wires.
