Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX9
$400.00
Released July, 2010
The Pros:Great performance and image quality for the size and target consumer. Large high resolution 3.5" touchscreen display - 921K dots. Takes affordable, easy to find and capacious SD/SDHC/SDXC and Sony's proprietary Memory Stick Pro Duo flash memory cards.
The Cons:TransferJet requires too many components, which are rare and mostly over-priced. Not a significant upgrade over the previous generation TX7. 3D modes are limited and a bit gimmicky.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX9 is one of three compact digital cameras (DSC-T99, DSC-TX9, DSC-WX5) released in summer 2010 as fresh additions to the Cyber-shot series. As an upgrade from the original DSC-T99, the Cyber-shot DSC-TX9 offers full HD 1080i video recording and a 3D Sweep Panorama that takes information from up to 100 images and combines them to create a stereoscopic pair of frames.

It also adds along a Background Defocus that according to Engadget gives a DSLR-like effect of “sharp foreground images with a blurry background.” Like its predecessor, it too can be used underwater. Plus it hosts an HDMI output for transmitting to a compatible HDTV set.
