The Sony DAV-HDX279W, part of the high-end BRAVIA brand, shares many features with the top-of-the-line DAV-HDX576WF at a lower price point. Full 5.1 surround sound, including Sony S-AIR wireless for the rear speakers, centered on a 5-CD/DVD changer. The changer itself features 1080p upscaling, which upconverts standard DVD information to 1080p high-definition content through HDMI output, as well as Sony BRAVIA Sync; if connected to a BRAVIA HDTV, the TV will take over many of the receiver’s control functions, simplifying set-up and use. Also included is Sony’s DMP digital media management system, and an iPod cradle attachment.
