The Ericsson W705a falls at the higher end of Sony's mp3-player phones and offers numerous features. It puts much emphasis on being an mp3 player, and uses Sony's Walkman interface to navigate music libraries. It has customizable playlists, includes a headset, shake controls for playback, and an FM radio receiver. It is also a 3G phone, with up to 7.6Mbps data transfer and videocalling options. It has a GPS receiver as well, and a 3.15-megapixel digital camera with LED flash, video capture and geotagging. The videocalling camera has VGA resolution. The W705a's on-board memory is 120MB, but this can be expanded up to 8GB, and the phone comes with a 4GB M2 stick. Other features included thread-view SMS messaging, step counter, Bluetooth wireless and up to 10 hours of talk time battery life.
