After purchasing the MS390 saw from a Stihl dealership ('steal'ership is apparently more like it), this saw sported a cracked housing after only 10 minutes of easy use.
While it appeared to cut well on the high end, it seemed to bog down on the lower end of the scale...but maybe after the break-in period this would have sorted itself out. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to find out, as I immediately quit using it after noticing the cracked housing while checking the saw between cuts.
When I went to return the saw to the dealership, I proceeded to get the run around, with all manner of excuses as to why I couldn't return the saw for a full refund. Evidently the purported Stihl "7-day no questions asked return policy" is simply a marketing gimmick. I only got a refund after warning potential customers as they walked in thru the door of the potential for rip-off...which is bullshit....I shouldn't have to do that, and I expected better than that from Stihl.
My advice? Go Husqvarna.
