Sylvania NB620SL1

$129.99 Released October, 2010

Product Shot 1 The Pros:DVDs play clearer than on a normal DVD player, adds a lot of detail and definition to the picture. Wireless setup is quick and easy to walk through. Blu-ray movies look sharp and clear, great picture rendering.

The Cons:Streaming services are difficult to connect to at times, WiFi gets poor bandwidth. Netflix interface is stripped down and over-simplified. No component output for legacy equipment.

The Sylvania NB620SL1 is a budget-friendly, entry-level CD, DVD, and Blu-ray player featuring integrated wireless networking. Unlike other entry-level units, the NB620SL1 player offers instant access to Video On Demand from services like Vudu and Netflix.

However, unlike premium models, the device is restricted to an instant queue, meaning users cannot search for titles or look in genres. There is however support for Profile 2.0 BD-Live, meaning users can access downloadable content such as trailers and movies. Also included is a multi-channel HDMI interface that supports 100% loss audio, and a Secure Digital (SD) memory card slot. Unfortunately the Internet interface is outdated, and there are no plans for a firmware update.
