The Akai SynthStation49 is a keyboard designed with an iPad dock. This enables users to access extended functionality through the iPad app for recording and sound reproduction while the iPad charges on an adjustable dock. This works in conjunction with MIDI functionality through the USB port, and both Mac and PC platforms are supported. The keyboard itself is full-sized in order to provide musicians with a familiar playing platform, and 9 MPC-style pads enable new drum beats and other cues to be set up. There are dedicated wheels for both pitch and mod functions, and transport controls make moving through the track easier. Outputs include a 1/4 inch stereo outputs to attach speakers or an amplifier and a separate headphone output.
