The Quick Cup by Tefal aims to revolutionize the ancient technology of the kettle by speeding up the time it takes to heat water from the standard kettle time of 3 minutes to a significantly faster 3 SECONDS. The Quick Cup uses a patented spiral technology that heats the water from a basin and sends it through a coil until it's ready to be poured out of the spout. Tefal claims this entire process takes only 3 seconds and reduces energy consumption by 65%. The Quick Cup, unlike a standard kettle only requires the heating elements of the spiral to heat up, whereas a kettle heats up its entire tank each time you require any hot water. The spirals don't require any pre-heating, making the process even faster. The Quick Cup can be used for hot and cold drinks, and also includes a filter so you can go straight from the tap to filtered water.

I've always had problems with forgetting the kettle is on and then by the time I remember the water has turned cold and I have to boil it again. So 3 seconds is tempting!

I've never really been bothered by waiting for a kettle to boil (especially those new electric kettles that detach from their base). However, 3 seconds is very tempting. $120 is not.

I have this wonderful hot water kettle from Japan that my mom bought me for my new apartment, and all you have to do is make sure the kettle is always filled with some water (its maximum capacity is 2 L), and it will always make sure you have hot water coming out whenever you want it. You can even set the temperature of the water so it's not terribly hot (that also reduces electricity).

I bought a Tefal Quick Cup 3 weeks ago. It's NOT worth it (IMHO). It is supposed to heat the water to "near boiling"....But it's just not near enough to boiling! It does START to dispense hot water within 3 seconds, but the water is really only hot enough for "instant" beverages (chocolate, instant coffee). It is useless if you want to make tea, or if you like your beverage to be anywhere near "normally" hot. I regret wasting my money on it.  Don't be misled by some adverts.  It does NOT cool the water, if you press the cold water button it only "dispenses" the water from it's tank (which could be at room temperature, although it does filter it). It's close to being "good", but it's "not there" yet.
