Doug Stauber (Sean William Scott) is 33, recently married, and the assistant manager of a supermarket in Chicago.  Doug hears from his boss about a new company supermarket opening soon, along with a new Full Manager position at the store.  Doug thinks he’s a “shoo-in” until his rival Richard Welhner (John C. Reilly) shows up from Canada, and begins to compete for the same job.  Richard has more experience, a wife and daughter, and is a friendly person too.  Though the two men have seemingly little in common, fierce competition for the promotion teaches them that they are more alike than they had once suspected.
