A Review of the Thermaltake Muse 3.5" - USB 2.0 Enclosure

A USB 2.0 enclosure that fits a 3.5" HDD. 3.5" is the regular size for a hard drive, 2.5" are laptop hard drives. When purchasing this product, it does NOT include a hdd (btw, hdd == hard drive disk).
This enclosure is fanless which is really nice since most enclosures have those tiny fans that have a high-pitch sound. It is completly screwless, so you can be up and running in less than a minute (not including formatting time of the hard drive if needed). The case itself doesn't get very hot, so I'm actually concerned about my HDD temps. I've been too lazy to find a program that will read the S.M.A.R.T. info off the drive through a USB 2.0 connection (most don't seem to do it).
The included stand is nice if you want to stand up the enclosure. It is fully removable, so stacking these enclosures should not be a problem.
The thing that really caught my attention was the analog activity meter. I was very disappointed with it though. I figured the novelty would wear off after 2 days, but it took only 5 minutes to wear off. I thought it was going to be a meter of the transfer rate, but it's a meter of the disk activity which isn't as useful. I wouldn't purchase this enclosure for this feature, but the other above mentioned ones. The activity meter itself makes a tiny bit of noise (not a lot, and not annoying, but if you're listening for it, you can hear it). The blue LED backlight is pretty soft, but is annoying when you're trying to sleep.
The USB/power connections could be more secure, but from what I've read on other enclosure, they are all lose.
There is also a power switch to turn off the hdd completly. If you do not turn off this switch, your hdd will continue to spin even when your computer is turned off.
I can hear the hdd spinning in the enclosure, but the drive I bought is really quiet so it's not too bad. If you buy a loud hdd, the spinning of the drive may start to bug you over time. Make sure when you close the enclosure, you don't snag any power cables. I almost cut right through one of the cables.
Pros:
+ fanless
+ screwless (the mouting holes on the hdd lines up with pseudo-screws built into the case)
+ included stand so the enclosure can stand vertical
+ nice finish
+ stays cool
Cons
+ activity meter is more cheesy than anything
+ the usb/power cables feel lose, could be a tighter fit
+ the blue LED light highlights the activity meter is annoying when you're trying to sleep
+ easy to catch a power wire and cut it while trying to close the enclosure
