The TomTom XL 550 is a GPS receiver for people who frequently need to get where they are going in a hurry. This is similar to the TomTom XL 350, but with a 5 in. display. It gives you advanced notice on the highway which lane you need to be in, and has fast route re-calculation when you go in a direction you aren't supposed to.

Using an optional RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver and the IQ Routes technology, it can predict the fastest route based on traffic conditions that are being reported live as well as a database of past traffic patterns. While there is a mount for this device, it can also be carried with you with a battery life of 3 hours.
The maps update four times a year for the US, Canada, and Mexico. Points of interest that it can display include gas stations, restaurants, ATMs and hotels.
