The AV500U Series of LCD televisions is Toshiba's entry level offering in their 2008 lineup of TVs. These sets feature a 720p native resolution and provide the standard set of features for this range of HDTVs. The AV500s do not carry the Regza brand, and are the only line of 2008 Toshiba TVs lacking the fourth generation PixelPure image processing technology. Instead the AV500U line uses a 10-bit processor. Coming above the AV500 line is the CV510 which contains the same 720p native resolution but adds the fourth generation processor, and is part of the Regza brand. Added in the fall of 2008 are three sets in the AV502 which add a second HDMI input and come with a thinner bezel.
