The Toshiba XDE600KE is an upscale DVD player targeted primarily towards non-US countries that haven’t yet quite warmed up to the Blu-ray disc revolution. It is currently un-priced, but likely to appear in the European market sometime during the fourth quarter of 2009. And it is essentially an upgrade from the XDE500 model, as it is supposed to offer dramatically improved 1080P upconversions; Toshiba’s proprietary REGZA link technology; and a much touted USB port for viewing pictures, playing MP3s, and even accessing DivX movies. Like its predecessor, the Toshiba XDE600KE is expected to include their “XDE” post-processing engine, which delivers three major enhancements: sharpness, color, and contrast.
