Toshiba XDE600KE

Released December, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:The sharpness Extended Detail Enhancement sharpens scenes nicely without adding halos or other artifacts. Very thin, light build quality. Decent playback quality for the price.

The Cons:The colour and contrast Extended Detail Enhancement options are pretty much useless on a newer model HDTV. Automatically stretches 4:3 aspect ratio media to 16:9 with no way to change it. Included remote control has very small, hard to use buttons.

The Toshiba XDE600KE is an upscale DVD player targeted primarily towards non-US countries that haven’t yet quite warmed up to the Blu-ray disc revolution. It is currently un-priced, but likely to appear in the European market sometime during the fourth quarter of 2009.

Like its predecessor, the Toshiba XDE600KE is expected to include their “XDE” post-processing engine, which delivers three major enhancements: sharpness, color, and contrast.
